BIO
As an athlete who played basketball competitively throughout high school and college, Daemin Hickey has seen his share of sports injuries. When several of those injuries required surgery, Daemin got a firsthand look at the important role orthopaedic specialists have in restoring and maintaining a patient's health and well-being. His appreciation for these professionals, and his desire to pursue a career where he could help others, guided him to the field of medicine.
When he had the opportunity to shadow a physical therapy aide at the University of Nevada, Reno, Daemin’s interest in physical therapy was sparked. Starting as a volunteer, he became a physical therapy aide, then lead technician, before enrolling in the Physical Therapy program at Touro University (NV). He had found his true calling.
Daemin’s experience spans both inpatient and outpatient care. Since becoming a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in 2018, he has further developed his skills and honed his specialty in post-operative care. Daemin takes an empathetic approach rooted in his personal experiences with orthopaedic injuries and is committed to using the most efficient and effective methods to improve patient outcomes, staying at the forefront of orthopaedic technology. His experience with leading-edge treatments includes creating an Achilles rehabilitation protocol that improves outcomes for patients recovering from Achilles tendon injuries.
Through treatment, Daemin’s primary goal is to restore function, helping his patients reach their individual health and mobility goals. He recognizes each patient’s resilience and offers them the opportunity to reach their fullest potential by avoiding narrow expectations or placing boundaries on what they can achieve. One of his pillars of treatment is the principle of "do no harm," balancing a conservative approach with more intensive treatment when it benefits recovery.
Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Daemin has a deep appreciation for his community and is excited to build his career and raise a family in his hometown. He spends his free time with family and friends, enjoying all the outdoor activities the area has to offer.
