Laura Forbes is a Certified Hand Therapist at Great Basin Orthopaedics, specializing in traumatic hand injuries with complex rehabilitation.
Laura’s interest in medicine was ignited following bilateral ACL injuries she sustained in high school. While pursuing medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno, she took a job as a technician in an outpatient hand therapy clinic. There, she discovered hand therapy as her true passion, recognizing its transformative impact on patients' lives.
With a patient care approach rooted in transparency and empathy, Laura empowers her patients throughout their rehabilitation by ensuring they fully understand their injuries and their recovery process. Inspired by the power of medicine to transform lives, she is committed to helping her patients regain function and independence to pursue the activities that make life meaningful.
Laura actively engages in continuing education and is dedicated to staying at the forefront of the latest research in her field. In recent years, she has honed her skills in neurological conditions and injuries impacting the hand in both pediatric and adult patients. This commitment to integrating evidence-based practices and expanding her skills helps Laura optimize outcomes for her patients.
For Laura, home truly means Nevada. She is a fourth-generation Nevadan and a proud member of our community’s Basque culture. An adventurer at heart, she enjoys skiing, camping, water sports, fishing, hunting and dirtbike riding with her husband and three children.
