Reno, NV (June 13, 2014) – A team of highly skilled, accomplished orthopaedic professionals has joined together to establish Reno’s newest practice: Great Basin Orthopaedics, with offices at 845 Aitken Street near Renown Regional Medical Center, and in South Reno on 689 Sierra Rose Drive, Suite B.
These physicians come from three different, well-established Reno orthopaedic practices — Alpine Bone & Joint, Advanced Orthopedics and Sierra Orthopedics. While some of the team has been collaborating since 1964, the practice has evolved over the last five decades to include six talented surgeons, each with unique skillsets but a shared philosophy of care.
They are:
- Aaron J. Dickens, MD
- Christopher Dolan, MD
- Thomas Fyda, MD
- Richard Hayes, MD
- Travis Kieckbusch, MD
- Daniel T. Kokmeyer, M.D.
- Richard Mullins, MD
Great Basin Orthopaedics is the official Orthopaedic Consultant for the University of Nevada Wolf Pack, Western Nevada College, the Justin Sports Medicine Team and multiple area high school athletic departments.
“While some of our physicians are Northern Nevada natives,” said Christopher Dolan, MD. “All of us have chosen to put down roots, build careers and raise our families in this community. We have come together because of our shared beliefs about patient-centered care, meaning every patient is seen by an orthopaedic specialist on every visit. If you look around at the orthopaedic landscape in the area, you’ll understand that’s a unique feature of this office. ”
Additionally, all of the providers believe in an individualized approach to care and in educating the patient about their options. To that end, the practice recently launched its new website, www.greatbasinortho.com, featuring doctor bios, patient resources for bone and joint information, articles about preventive and treatment options and more.
“Northern Nevada is spectacular, but unfortunately, the sheer amount of outdoor recreation options in our own backyard can often translate to a higher likelihood of injury to bones and joints,” said Richard Hayes, MD. “If you’re hurt, we’re here to help, and our goal is to return you to our amazing backyard playground as quickly as possible.”
