Bio

Steve graduated from San Jose State University with a B.A. in biological and cognitive psychology and a minor in biology. His studies focused on the structure and function of the brain and how we learn and process information. He went on to pursue physical therapy training at Fontys Hogeschool Eindhoven in The Netherlands.

Steve has extensive training and experience in manual therapy and biomechanical analysis of human function, particularly as it relates to running and throwing. He has 20 years of experience working in outpatient orthopaedics and enjoys working with the entire spectrum of orthopaedic conditions. Steve’s goal is to have each patient be an “expert” in their own recovery, so that they are better able to manage their particular injury as they move through recovery and beyond.

Growing up, Steve was a multisport athlete playing baseball, basketball and football in high school. As an adult, he has dabbled in ultra-endurance events, completing four ironman triathlons and ten ultra-marathon events, ranging from 50 kilometers to 50 miles. His athletic background and education give him unique insight. Not only can he identify with the athlete’s mind, he understands the physical demands required of high-level athletes, as well as the more prevalent recreational athlete.

Steve and his wife, a physical therapist and elite level ultra-runner, relocated to her hometown of Reno in 2001 after several years in the Bay Area. He has spent the majority of his free time over the past six years coaching his two boys in their athletic pursuits of baseball, basketball, football and skiing. He enjoys the occasional round of golf when time allows.
